Introduction

Myself and Will have been set the task of creating a short film opening in the genre of our choice for our AS media studies course work. We are doing a horror themed opening we are also implementing some thriller into it as well, this will consist of credit titles in order to tell the audience the crew, title of the film and maybe even a little start the story for example, a setting. the opening sequence could also introduce the character of the story with little detail to enable enigma to be created. This genre is typically dark and mysterious in this way it proves to be a very unique style of film.
Image result for InsidiousI have chosen this genre as it is very interesting in the way that it allows the audience to understand the story line and actions of the characters even though there is little dialogue. The story is understood as the mise-en-scene is very stylistic and detailed and this enables the audience to understand what is happening through having so much information in one small image. Insidious would be a good example of a horror film due to the fact that it is lacks a lot of dialogue but makes it up in mise-en scene and special effects. This helps the audience understand the narrative of the story. The music that has been implemented also gives the film a more effective feel as it allows the audience to feel more involved into the story as the music helps set the scene.

I hope to understand how to make the most out of every frame in which the camera captures. through the experience of making the film opening I should pick up valuable skills and methods of mise-en-scene that could help me make the most impact out of every shot I create.
